| Let's avoid the urbanisation in the
surroundings of LLuc |
The Col·lectiu en Defensa de Lluc (Association in Defence of Lluc) was set up on November 2007. It is an association leaded by the Associació d’Antics Blavets (Association of Former Members of the Monastery Choir) and supported by ARCA and GOB. Its objective is to avoid the urbanisation project threatening Es Guix.
This project plans the construction of 165 Multi-Family housings (allowing 771 more inhabitants) and expects to become the ‘new village’ of Escorca. Besides, shops and restaurants are also part of this project which is supposed to be developed in this unique landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana.
On September 8th 2006 the Town Council of Escorca gave the building licence for 105 housings.
Although at present the works are provisionally stopped because of a Land Use Provisional Norm of Mallorca’s Insular Council, in a few months the future of this area -which deserves protection-, will have to be decided. The Town Council of Escorca has presented allegations against this Provisional Norm.
It has to be reminded that the municipality of Escorca was declared Picturesque Place (Decree 984/1972) in 1972 and recently Place of Cultural Interest. This has to motivate the administrations to promote the protection of this special place of Mallorca.
Both the estate developments of Es Guix and Son Massip would represent an important lost for Escorca and for the whole of the island. Escorca does not need a new village and Mallorca does not need to develop new settlements in the Serra the Tramuntana.
For all these reasons we do ask for your collaboration. Send a message to the President of Mallorca’s Insular Council, to the Land Use Planning Councillor and to the mayor of the Town Council of Escorca. Fill in your personal data and click on the enviar (send) button.
Thank you very much for your support!
