The GOB denounce the uncontrolled
circulation of vehicles in Cala Agulla (19/1/2000)
On September 24 of 1996, and from a proposal by
the GOB, the Full Council meeting of the Capdepera Council passed
a very interesting, pioneer legal measure that limited the free
circulation of vehicles along the lanes that go through the natural
area (ANEI) of Cala Agulla-Cala Mesquida. Now the GOB say that
no steps have been taken to fulfil this norm and to sanction the
offenders, and as a result we find that the natural area continues
to suffer accelerated degradation through the circulation of mopeds
and even cars round this magnificent dune area.
According to the ecological association, other natural spaces such as the Serra de Tramuntana, the Serra and coast of Llevant, Son Real, Randa and Marina of Llucmajor, Es Trenc-Salobrar in Campos, Na Burguesa or Sant Salvador at Felanitx, suffer the degradation caused by mopeds and four wheel drive cars. Therefore the GOB ask the Councillor for Environment of the Govern to intervene legally to resolve the problem.
