Serra de Tramuntana: the debate continues (10/3/2000)

Nearly 500 cybernauts have already voted in the poll about the idoneity or not of declaring the Serra de Tramuntana a Natural Park. Quite a lot have expressed opinions, nearly 40 written contributions, amongst which we find those from the Balearic Councillor for Economy, Agriculture, Commerce and Industry, Joan Mayol, the general director for Mobility and Environment Education, Boro Miralles, the president of the GOB, Joan Rita and other important ones such as from the Grup d'Opinió Terra Nostra.

And the live debate continues... Today even, at 8 p.m., there will another meeting to be held at the public school Es Vinyet of Andratx to debate the subject, organised by the Balearic Agricultural and Farm Animal Federation (FARB) and the Association for the Defence of the Serra Tramuntana, in which representatives of the GOB, such as Miquel Àngel March, Macià Blàzquez and Joan, amongst others, will take part.

The positions continue to be completely opposing and politicised, and the debate has transferred to the streets of many of Mallorca's towns and villages, where the disinformation that the majority of proprietors and public in general have about this important topic for the future of Mallorca, is palpable.
