The Energy Plan will allow
the continuing present urban model (26/10/2000)
The councillor
for Innovation and Energy, Misericòrdia Ramon, and the
general director for Energy, Joan Perches, presented on July 19
the draft for the Directive Sectorial Energy Plan for the Balearics
(Energy Plan). Now, and until the end of November, the Energy
Plan is open to public inspection.
The Energy Plan determines mainly the energetic needs for the next 15 years and fixes the necessary infrastructure to supply this demand and guarantee the supply, both of electricity and other forms of energy.
According to the GOB in a press communiqué,
the Energy Plan elaborated by the Balearic Government will permit
the continuation of the same developing urban model, as it contemplates
that in the next 15 years the electric potency for the Balearics
will have increased by 75% and foresees the installation of groups
of electric generators to go from 1,100 MW at present to 1,900
MW in the Balearics. The ecological organisation thinks that it
looks more like an Electric Plan rather than an Energy Plan as
it does not consider transport nor energy saving measures.
