The councillor for Environment,
Margalida Rosselló, presented last Friday, May 12, the Advance of the
Plan for Administration of Natural Resources (PORN) for the Península
de Llevant.
The PORN for the Península de Llevant affects mainly the land in the
municipalities of Artà, Capdeperra and Son Servera, and less the lands
in Santa Margalida and Sant Llorenç. The Plan includes the proposal of
a Natural Park covering 17,680 hectares, of which 13,469 are on land, and 4,364
in the sea. It also proposes, outside the Park area, the establishment of areas
of protected countryside that cover a total of 3,704 hectares.
Yesterday, May 18, Antoni Muñoz and Pere Piris, speakers for the Plataforma Pro-Parc de Llevant, presented the action that has been prepared to inform about the advantages of the PORN for the Península de Llevant and the declaration of the Parc Natural de Llevant, with the view to offering the public the maximum information on the subject and to counteract the information intoxication that has come from the opposers to the Park. Amongst other initiatives, the Platform will distribute informative material, will hold informative meeting and will make contact with the implicated Town Councils and with the Govern Balear. Meanwhile, they announced their support for the proposal by the GOB to increase the territorial ambit of the Park with the inclusion of the areas Calicant-Na Penyal, the link Xiclati-Son Jordi, the area of Spanish oak in the south of Artà (Bellpuig-S'Auma) and Punta de n'Amer.
The speakers for the Platform also presented their web (www.mallorcaweb.net/parcllevant) where they offer full information about the group, about the Natural Park that they propose, and comments by people who live in Natural Parks. The web includes also the text of the Advance of the Plan for Controlling the Natural Resources of the Peninsula de Llevant, a list of entities and people who are supporting the initiative, and offers the possibility of joining the Platform using the electronic mail of the organisation (parcllevant@mallorcaweb.net)
