Help us save the Natural Parks of the Península de Llevant and Cala d'Hort
Stop the cut-back of the parks of the Balearic Isles proposed by the exminister of environment

The Government of the Balearic Isles, the president of which is Jaume Mates, the ex minister of environment, is proposing drastic cut-backs (practically to the point of extinction) of two natural parks of the islands: the Parc Natural de la Peninsula de Llevant (Mallorca) and the Parc Natural de Cala Hort (Ibiza).

The Parc Natural de la Peninsula de Llevant would lose 93'67% of its protected area: from the currently protected 16.232 land hectares and 5.275 marine hectares to only 1.856 land hectares (the public estates).

The Parc Natural de Cala d'Hort will practically disappear from the island of Ibiza (reduced to only 0'5 Ha) and will only been maintained the islets natural reserve (without marine area). Then, the 2773'3 protected Ha would be in future only 234'2 Ha (cut of the 91'6% of the original protected area).

It is absolutely unacceptable to reduce these areas. We expose in our report on this subject what is the true environmental policy of the Balearic Government.

On behalf of the GOB we are asking for your collaboration to help us stop the cutting-back of the natural parks of Llevant i de Cala d'Hort:

. Sending protest letters to the President del Govern (model of letter in the web)
. Sending protest letters to the local newspapers
. Spreading this web amongst your friends

Thank you for your help
