Avui dematí, fent el SAC a les afores de LLubí, he pogut veure 2 durbecs (C.coccothraustes). Ha estat un transecte ben mogut, amb xifres molt més altes que altres anys de fringíl·lids, ulls de bou, titines, etc.

Hi Maties,
did I meet you recently at Colonia de Sant Pere, looking for the Snow Bunting (Plectrophenax nivalis)?
I am sorry I cannot read Catalan, But I understand you have seen 2 Hawfinch (C. coccothraustes) at Llubi?
I have never seen this bird, so would be interested in some more details about the location.
Regards,
Clive Griffin.

Hi Clive.
Welcome to Forumaus. I imagine Maties will give you the exact location. The Artá area (Llevant natural reserve) is also usually good in the winter for this species. PM me if you need any further info
Regards
Steve

Hi Clive.
First of all, I must say my english is so bad, I hope you can understand me.
You are right, we met in Colònia de Sant Pere, I was with my family there and you showed us pictures of the Snow Bunting, but we couldn't find it.
Hawfinches were east of LLubí, in an almond field. I've created a Google Earth file but don't know how to send it! The exact coordinates (on Google Earth) are 39.6934°, 3.03459° (latitude and longitude). If you need more information, ask me at matiesrb@yahoo.es.
I use to go there quite often, and is the first time I see this species in that place. A much better place to see Hawfinches is Mortitx, in the Tramuntana Mountains. I go there tomorrow morning with some friends, if we see this species I'll tell in the forum. Some years there are Howfinches there for throughout the winter, but you know every year is a diferent situation.
Regards,

Hi Maties,
thanks for your precise information. Your english is near perfect, it makes me ashamed that I still am struggling with castillano, I haven't started with catalan yet!
Mortitx is interesting - I hope to go there soon. I look forward to your report if you see Hawfinch there.
Regards,
Clive.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the welcome.
I am also interested in knowing your sites in Arta for Hawfinch as this is local to my home. It is a bird that has always eluded me.
Regards,
Clive.

Hi Clive.
We have been lucky, there were 2-3 Hawfinches in Mortitx this morning, seen very close to the entrance of the "finca", where you meet the firsts vineyards. Observers: Gemma, Nieves, Rafel, Lluís, Lalo, Maties.
-------------------------------------------
