Sturnus unicolor

Spotless Starling (Sturnus unicolor) has been observed on 6th June breeding at Port de Pollenca - 2 birds seen from the Albufereta track next to the restaurant Ca'n Cuarassa on the Port de Pollenca coast road, taking food to a nest site under roof tiles.

Also with Philip Garnett and Mike Montier on 9th June at Albufera we saw a distant raptor that we could not identify, but after consulting his reference books, Philip is almost convinced that it was a Lesser Spotted Eagle (Aquila pomarina). It would be interesting if another record is made of this species.

Salut, Clive Griffin.

Hi Clive!
2 years ago one Aquila pomarina was seen in April in Ciutadella, Menorca (AOB 2009)
I don't know if it was accepted by the Rarities Committee.
May be someone else can give us more information.

best regards,

Cristina.
