rècord de longevitat de gavina d'hivern (Larus ridibundus)

Entrada Autor: jordi muntaner »

Hola a tots,

Salut,

Jordi

Dear all,

We have recently published a paper with some new longevity records of Black-headed Gull (Larus ridibundus). The world's oldest Black-headed Gull was seen (and also photographed!) for the last time on 21 March 2011, 32 years, 8 months and 24 days after it had been ringed as a chick.

Besides that, we discuss in this paper the consequences of the use of poor quality metal rings. We argue that aluminium rings should not be used anymore to mark Black-headed Gulls.

The paper can be downloaded for free from the website of Frank Majoor (www.frankmajoor.nl ), direct hyperlink

Best wishes,

Klaas van Dijk / Groningen / The Netherlands.
